A dedication to my depressed friends.
This one is telling a story about depression, from the day you fall into it till the day you become free of it. More and more people suffer from depression. My own logic tells me that it really isn't that strange at all. People become more and more isolated in this world. It began with children spending no time with their family (institutions have taken over). Everybody has to face bigger and bigger requirements in daily life, and if you can't fulfil these requirements, what then? At home most people spend their time in front of the computer screen, only being in contact with other human beings online.
It's no secret that it's a tough world out there. I once saw a documentary on Discovery about the behaviour of humans. According to surveys 95% of the worlds population, are selfish people, leaving only 5% which are called altruists. That means 95% of us lives to seek money and power, no matter how or who it hurts. So for the 5% who isn't thinking in those paths, life can quite often seem like a cold prison in which there is only one escape: suicide - and that’s exactly what many people do. Being a minority like that, it's very difficult to find understanding people. Most of the time you’ll run into one among the 95%, and thus gets exploited one way or another.
So a depressed state of mind at some point in your life is unavoidable. That much I know. And when you get there, be aware that it’ll take some time to find your way out again, but rest assured that you will find the exit sooner or later.
